  Well I am back from Switzerland…the race was great, or better I should say the race was brutal and great that I survived!!! I did the full 165k, which had 4 big climbs, and the last one was 19k at avg. 6%. It was very difficult but I’m happy that I did the whole distance – it was one of the hardest rides I have ever done. The event was managed pretty well and the roads were mostly top quality. The first section of the race was on closed roads like Kral Sumavy, but eventually we were on roads with normal traffic. This made some of the steep/fast descents quite dangerous and on the beginning of last climb many cars in traffic jams which was not very nice. I finished 120 of 174 in the long race – I hoped for top half but I am still satisfied. My fitness is ok but i found the alpine climbs to be relentless – so long!...plus it was a very warm day for that area, 25-30 degrees. I’d have to say that more up/down like Sumava is easier, but maybe just for me. I’m sure our Slapky climbers could do very well at this event. I wish everyone could see the nature and countryside where we rode – spectacular!! And there was a team event…..so maybe a CZ team next year?!?!? (BTW, I was only rider registered from CZ!...and none from USA either).
